Camp Meeting 2009 is over
Hello, everyone,
It’s Saturday afternoon and camp meeting is through for this year. We had a great time this week, with several guest speakers who are real men of God teaching and preaching. The Victory Gospel Singers led us in praise and worship music each night, and again this morning.
The highlight of the week was this morning’s service. The guest speaker was none other than our very own Dr. Florence Barker, wife of Dr. Ray Barker, who is my pastor. After the morning service, we had an appreciation dinner for our Administrative Overseer, Bishop Douglas Cline, and his wife, Linda. Rev. and Mrs. Cline have been here at Southwest Indian Ministries for 19 years and are well-loved by the Navajo people.
So, with camp meeting over, you would think that the SWIM campus is quiet…but not so. There are around 110 of our Baptist brothers and sisters from Eastern Tennessee arriving this weekend. They are coming to help us with building projects at different churches that are part of Southwest Indian Ministry. We who are part of the Church of God really appreciate them ministering across denominational lines. I hope that they will feel welcome and have a good time while they are here with us. I also hope that Betsy and I can spend some time having fellowship with them this next week. I’m not sure what their schedule is or who will be working where on what construction projects, but they plan to go sightseeing on Friday. They are in for a real treat! The Four Corners area is blessed with some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Wish I could go with them on Friday…
The next week should prove to be an exciting one.
God bless you,
Pastor Marv
